Looking for an easy pattern made with basic stitches that has some texture and interest? Try the Easy Textured Crochet Baby Blanket!

I love the blanket stitch, and thought it was about time I had a project on the blog that used it! So I grabbed a couple of skeins that I had in my stash and got to work – mostly while riding in the car or waiting in the car line for my sons.

I love the way this worked up! Team this easy blanket stitch (made with just chains, single and double crochet stitches) with an easy puff stitch border, and you’ve got a wonderful gift for a new little one in your life!

The stitch multiple is included so you can make this any size you like, and there is a video tutorial that walks you through each step, too, so even if you are newer to crochet, you can make this blanket!

I love Lion Brand Mandala yarn because of the awesome color changes, and have used it in several projects. It is a DK (category #3) yarn that is thin enough to give great texture and drape but not so thin that it takes forever…. in fact, this project worked up quickly!

You can use any weight yarn you like, but keep in mind a very thick yarn might have problems working the border due to the nature of puff stitches. If you want it to be close to the dimensions of the blanket I made, stick with a DK yarn from your stash (makes a great stash-buster and you can even do it in stripes to use up several skeins of DK yarn!).
