Pattern is written in US terminology and includes row by row instructions and pictures. A video tutorial and chart are also provided for the woven cables panel.

Cushion cover:
The pillow is worked flat in rows to make rectangle panels before joining them together. The front panel is textured with various crochet stitch types – this makes it a great project for someone wishing to learn or practice different stitches in one project. The woven strip on the front panel is the most difficult bit, but it’s not as scary as it looks and is actually pretty easy (I include a link to my video tutorial for this stitch to help you). The back panel is created in a striped design using scrap ends – two panels are created, placed together with an overlap and joined along the sides to create the insert for the cushion. Finally, the front and back panels are seamed to join and bordered to finish.

Tissue box:
The tissue box holder is worked by creating a granny square for the base and then the sides in joined rounds. Like the cushion cover, the holder is textured with various crochet stitch types, so it’s great for someone that wants to learn or practice different techniques. To create a sturdy frame, I used a recycled biscuit tin slightly larger than the average cube box of tissues. You can use any tin type as long as it’s a suitable shape and size. Simply recycle an old biscuit, tea bag, coffee or sugar tin for example or pick a cheap one up from the local pound shop.

Materials required:

#4 weight yarn (aran)
4.5mm or 5mm hook (or size required to obtain gauge)
Stitch markers (or safety pins if you don’t have any)
Double-sided sticky tape
A recycled tin
