I used “I Love This Yarn” but any worsted weight yarn will work will for this scarf. Use what you prefer to work with in the colors you like.

Gauge isn’t really important in this pattern since it the size is determined by the length added to the yellow center piece of the pencil.

You will have a few ends to sew in since you are changing colors a couple times in the scarf, but the pattern is written with color changes included so it can be worked as one piece.

You need a very small amount of scrap yarn for the pencil tip. Dark brown or black is suggested but make a colored pencil if that is what you have left over.

I used about half a skein of 4 oz yellow and only a little of the other colors.
