When someone you love has Alzheimer’s it is sometimes difficult to know what to gift them on their birthday. We had learned through our experience with Alzheimer’s that sensory played a part in brain stimulation. We thought we could bring together sensory stimulation and the warmth and coziness of a jumper together, the idea for the textured sensory blanket was born.
The idea behind this blanket is that loved ones will be able to make a gift that will be both practical and personal. This pattern provides ways to personalise the blanket from the choice of the yarn to the additional attachments on certain squares.
There are two mesh squares where ribbons, yarn or even fabric from an old shirt could be weaved in and out to provide extra texture and personalisation. One attachment square where you can add bells, pompoms, cotton wheels, badges, or anything that can be sewn on. This is a great square to make the blanket really personal by adding things that mean something or represent something about the person.
Made up of squares using different stitch patterns to provide texture, along with different types of yarn this blanket is a beautiful gift for your loved one.

By buying this pattern you have contributed to helping find an end to Alzheimer’s. All profits of the sale of this pattern will go to Alzheimer’s research.
