This hat is a quick project, averaging a couple hours depending on your speed. I consider it an easy pattern since it’s primarily double and single crochet, even for the shells.

I also use the Chainless Starting Double Crochet and Adjustable Starting Ring in all my patterns. There are tutorials for both online and you can substitute a basic starting chain if you prefer.

As written the finished hat will be about 9’’ in diameter and 24’’ around the bottom rim and should fit snugly on a small to medium adult head. However, the pattern can be adjusted both larger and smaller up to a point (notes on this are within the pattern itself).
