You can use a larger needle if you perfer a lighter weight washcloth, although it will affect the size…

If you would like a larger washcloth just increase the stitches, as long as you end up with a odd number of stitches, knit until the length is the same as the width(excluding the borders)….

Also feel free to use any yarn of choice, adjusting the needle size according, the size may also come out differently…

Cast on 47sts
Rows 1 to 4…k1,p1 to last st, k1
Row 5…purl
Row 6…k1,p1 twice, (p1, k1) to last 5 sts p2, k1, p1, k1…
Row 7…purl…
Row 8…k1,p1 to last st, k1…
Rows 9 to 74…repeat rows 5 to 8…
Row 75…purl
Row 76 to 79…k1, p1 to last st, k1…
Cast off, leaving the last stitch on needle, using a crochet hook, use that last stitch to make 15 chain, insert hook into last cast off sts, yarn over hook and pull yarn through the cast off sts and the stitch already on the hook, cut yarn and pull through last remaining sts…
