In 2022, I went on the wonderful Woolay Retreat and had the pleasure of dyeing my own skein of yarn. I was thrilled with the results but every time I tried to cast something on with it, I ended up ripping it out because the speckled, variegated yarn was just too busy for most patterns. I desperately wanted this precious yarn to become something lovely so I decided to design something myself!

So these socks are designed to be versatile and work with those cherished single skeins, the heavy speckles, the variegates, the stripes or those stunning tonals. This pattern includes some information on how to adapt it to suit your yarn and fit preferences. I have included a heel, flap and gusset which I have tweaked to make my perfect heel and a twist on the rounded toe to make it a little more pretty but of course, you can always change these for your heel and toe of choice.

This pattern was created in collaboration with Gem from The Little Grey Girl, who kindly created the striped yarn of my dreams to match my own proud creation. Thanks Gem x
