Gift-making season is upon us! Why not use some stash and leftover yarn to knit a cozy, bulky, and satisfyingly quick scarf? Please enjoy this simple guideline for a sideways knit scarf with a simple tassel fringe. The sample shown is 7 in wide and 56 in long, not including the 7 in tassel fringe. This project is perfect for the novice knitter, but also a great palate-cleanser for those wanting a break from that amazing Fairisle or cabled project.

Choose any yarns you like. Imagine a novelty or art yarn version, or a rustic breed-specific version… something for everyone on your gift list! Gauge is not critical, but keep in mind the number of stitches cast on in various yarn weights will affect the final length of your scarf. This, of course, makes the size entirely customisable. Feel free to do the simple math to work with the yarn weight of your choice, or hold together multiple strands to make the suggested bulky gauge. Also keep in mind that yardage requirements will change with yarn weight.
