This pattern requires two colors of Berroco Ultra Alpaca yarn, one skein each, but you will have a little left over of each color. This is a perfect for a novice knitter who’s interested in practicing color striping, seaming, and weaving in ends, or for a pro who might be looking for a project that requires a bit less brainpower.
- CO 50 sts in Color A
- Work 128 sts in Color A, in garter stitch (knit every row)
- Let Color A drop, but don’t cut. Begin knitting with Color B, leaving a 6” tail.
- Alternate from color A to B every two rows, carrying each strand up the side of the project.
- Once you’ve got 22 stripes of A, drop A and cut, leaving a 6” tail.
- Knit the next two rows in B, then begin seed stitch.
- Work 106 rows of seed stitch in B and then BO (bind off).
- Seam the last row to the first using the darning needle and blanket stitch. Use the darning needle to weave the rest of the loose ends in.
