The Allsorts Blanket
The Allsorts Blanket is the refined and updated, fully written version of the Tooty Stripey Blanket in both UK and US terms (there are two files you can download, one in UK terms and one in US terms) . It also includes a full, computer generated chart, lots of photos and loads of info to help you make your own blanket.
(Please note, The Allsorts Blanket is not identical to the Tooty Stripey Blanket - but you shouldn’t have too much of a problem switching from one to the other.)
The Allsorts Blanket began life way back in 2013 and has become my signature blanket. It is a reversible, mixed stitch blanket, using a different colour on every row. It is suitable for the confident beginner as, on the whole, only simple stitches are used but in combinations that make them look much more complicated than they really are.
Popcorn and post stitches are used to create texture which hops back and forth from side to side. The result is a soft, squishy blanket that will be the envy of all your friends!
Although designed with DK in mind, you could use any weight of yarn, in whatever colours you prefer. Go for a rich palette of a dozen or more colours, or try a limited number of soft colours for a more subtle effect. Or gather all your scraps together for a stash buster!
(I used approx 350g of acrylic in total for a baby blanket size. A throw size might take 800g - 1,000g of acrylic. Pure wool will take more.)
Details are included on how to calculate your own stitch count and adjust the width and length to obtain your required size; work out a colour repeat; row by row instructions for working the central panel; straightening the side edges if necessary, and adding a simple border.
There is a full chart included (computer generated), plus plenty of photos (these are not step by step tutorial photos).
The pattern is available in both UK terms and US terms, just download the file for your preferred terms.
I hope you enjoy making your version and please pop back and link your project here so I can see your makes (click the ‘hook it’ button at top right of this page).
