The Alpine Sweater
About
The Alpine Sweater is a chunky, oversized color work sweater, perfect for a chilly winter morning. You’ll only be working with two colors at a time, and the floats are short (less than 5 stitches), making it a great intro to stranded color work! Its a quick, easy and fun knit.
Samples have been knit in both Malabrigo Chunky and Isstex Alafosslopi. Both hit gauge, but offer very different fibers + feeling. If you prefer a softer feel, the Malabrigo Chunky is a great option. If you don’t mind rustic fibers and want more of an outdoor layer, the Isstex Alafosslopi is perfect!
Construction
The Alpine Sweater body and sleeves are worked bottom up and connected at the underarm where short rows are worked to raise the back of the neckline. All stitches are then knit in the round to work the color work yoke.
