The Anya Scarf
The Anya Scarf - a modern twist on a vintage inspired design to keep you fashionably warm all winter.
Anya is both practical and glamorous. She’s a versatile lady, and can be worn as a scarf, shawl, snood and hood. She’s lightweight and drapey and frames your face beautifully. Inspired by the silk scarves featured on the pinups of the past, she brings all the same glamour to the winter months.
Anya features 5 slip stitch columns, tapered ends perfect for wrapping and an easy meditative repeat that requires almost (yes, almost) no purling (bar 5 stitches in the set up!).
Contains a pattern tracker to keep track of your rows, as well as links to video tutorials and option to add pompoms to the ends of the scarf.
Materials
DK to aran weight. A blown yarn is recommended due to its light weight and drapey nature.
Suggested yarn is Drops Air.
675-750m / 740-820y - for the scarf. You will need more if you plan on making the optional pompoms in the same yarn. I recommend using a fur yarn or you can simply purchase some premade!
Construction
The Anya Scarf is started with a provisional cast on for the left wing of the shawl, increases and slipped stitches are then worked to form the left wing. Once the desired width is met, the centre of the scarf is worked straight, before decreasing again for the right wing. The right tab is created using a 3-needle bind off. Stitches for the left tab are then picked up from the provisional cast on and a 3-needle bind off is again used to complete the tab.
Sizes
This pattern is one size but can easily be modified to make a smaller or larger scarf.
