All of us have somewhere we call home, it is where we feel safe, where our heart feels at peace, where our roots are planted. No where in the world is this more true for me than The Aran Islands, on this islands with the sheer cliffs I learned how to be a daughter, a sister, a mother and a wife, all through the examples of my family. It is here I felt the hand of God when I lost my sister, it is here I understood the words of old Irish, it is here I learned that’s God does not always give you the answer you desire but often the one you need. There are stories about Aran jumpers, that they were designed to identify a clan, many people say this is not so, I however know that when my great uncle was killed his jumper saved his dear Mam from having to see her battered son. For the Aran Islands, I give you an Aran jumper in the form of a sock.
