This pattern is designed to make the most of the many colourful variegated yarns, the irresistible eye candy on the yarn stalls I come across too frequently.

These yarns often have a short run of contrasting colours that can obscure more delicate stitch patterns. Here is a simple design that disrupts colour pooling and enhances the artistic element of a variegated colour mix.

The pattern uses slipped stitches and the scarf is worked in one piece. The front and reverse side are different and both are attractive, which is desirable for scarves, where normally both sides are visible.

Recommended yarn weights range from fingering weight to worsted weight. The yarns I used are:

Scarf 1: Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend DK, 70% merino, 30% silk, 300 yds / 270m per 100g skein. 2 skeins used.

Scarf 2: Wollmeise Twin 80/20, 80% merino superwash, 20% polyamide, 510 yds / 466m per 150g skein. I skein used.

Finished measurements:
Scarf 1: 12” / 30cm wide and 65” / 165cm long.
Scarf 2: 12” / 30cm wide and 56” / 144cm long.

The scarf is worked with a decorative picot cast on and cast off.
