The Ashcot Scarf
Ashcot; noun: A broad neck scarf joined so that its end lies flat, one end through the other, created by Ash. Often fastened with a broach or pin. Easy to knit and warm to wear, the Ashcot is stylish and practical. Ashcot is best knitted in your favorite hand painted yarn!
Starting at the tip of the tapered end, the scarf is knit flat in a simple yarn over lace. The end is gathered and punctuated by a seed stitch loop through which to pull the tapered end. This design can be knit longer (as shown) and loop around the neck twice, or shorter to loop around the neck once. The smart loop join is also the perfect spot to display your favorite vintage broach!
Skill Level: Easy. A great first time lace project as it is a very simple openwork motif.
