Designed by myself, this chunky cowl is part of a series of cowls I’m doing inspired by New York, my home state. They are designed to be comfortable, fun to knit, and perfect to wear with a stylish wool coat or a denim jacket.

The Astoria Cowl was named after the northern section of Queens, bordering the East River. You may not be familiar with this beautiful area of NYC, but I’m sure you’ve seen it a hundred times and just didn’t know it. Thousands of films and television shows have featured the view of the Triborough Bridge and Manhattan, especially at night. Go ahead - “Google it” (as my mother would say). This is the breathtaking view that has inspired so many people, including me. And if you ever visit this spot, especially on a crisp autumn or chilly winter evening with the wind whipping off the East River, wear your Astoria Cowl.

Suggested yarns: Anything super bulky. (Suggested yarn is “Hometown USA”, by Lion Brand. 2 Skeins.)
