The Baron Socks
This is the 3rd pattern in the Queen Gloriana Sock Club.
William Cecil, 1st Baron of Burghley was Queen Elizabeth I’s right-hand man, her spirit, and her most loyal advisor for most of her reign.
Cecil was instrumental in convincing Queen Elizabeth to have Mary, Queen of Scots executed after she was implicated in a plot to assassinate the queen.
His long-term goal was to have a united Protestant British Isles which would only happen by conquering Ireland and achieving a peace agreement with Scotland. While he did achieve an agreement with Scotland, his plans failed in the long term.
These socks feature texture, ribbing, and a centered cable. The repeats are easy to memorize and looks like a heck of a lot more difficult to knit than it appears. The pattern looks great with tonal, semi-tonal, solid, and speckled yarns.
