The Basic Sock
This is a basic sock pattern which allows you to have all the fun with different sock yarns.
Contrast toes? Stripes? You can do that with this pattern.
Gauge - 28 x 40 by 4 inches/10cm
Needles - 2.5mm 100cm circulars
or DPN’s or small circulars.
2.25mm for ribbing if you prefer a tight cuff.
This pattern is knit in magic loop but can easily be knit with DPN’s or small circular needles.

Foot size
7 (8.5) 10 inches
Please note these measurements are the finished sock size. Socks are to be worn with 1-1.5 inches of negative ease. For example if the widest part of your foot measures 9 inches, choose size 1 or 2 depending on the snugness you like.
If a bigger or smaller foot circumference is required this can be achieved by going up or down a needle size.
