The Beadless Gnome
A simplified version of the Happy and You Gnome It hat, this reverse stockinette hat is knit wrong side out and in the round to eliminate purling! The hat can be knit using whatever method you prefer: DPNs, magic loop, circular needles, two circulars, or any combination thereof- it doesn’t matter- as long as you can knit down to a very small circumference. A simple, slipped stitch panel in the front center of the hat provides texture and visual interest as well as contributing to the shaping of the hat by providing lift in the front.
300-380 yards of any sport weight yarn should be sufficient to complete this hat. If using two colors, you will need about 30-50 yards for the brim and 250-330 yards for the body of the hat.
There is a modification in case you want to knit the brim and body in two separate colors. The modification DOES involve purling.
