The Beanie
The Beanie is designed to keep you toasty warm in the frigid winter but still cute enough to make a statement, you’ll be reaching for the Beanie daily and itching to make one for every person you know and love (not on account of the wool).
Sizing: S (28 in/72 cm max-stretched circumference). M (30 in/78 cm max-stretched circumference) L (33 in/84 cm max-stretched circumference).
For reference, I wrapped a soft tape measure around my forehead and it measures 56 cm: I made a size S.
Materials:
About 150-200 yards chunky weight 100% wool yarn. I used Berroco Ultra Wool Chunky in colors Chili and Cream. Choose two colors you love (or stick to just one) for this pattern
US7 circular needles. Working in the round, use circular needles with a circumference shorter than your work (16”), otherwise work flat on either circular or regular needles (working the inverse of the pattern on the WS rows)
US7 circular needles (8”-10”)

P: Purl
K2TOG: Knit 2 together
A note on color changing: Because this beanie follows a pattern of thin stripes, two rows each, I suggest doing a simple yarn twist for color changing. If you cut the yarn each time you switch colors, you will have a LOT of ends to weave in and that is never fun.
The first time you switch colors, you will need to tie C2 to the working strand of C1, leaving a small tail to weave in later. Then on subsequent color change rows, say you’re moving from white to red, bring the white strand over to the left, pick up the red so that it twists over the white, and K or P as the pattern dictates. The twist, as in intarsia, ensures there is no ‘gap’ in the knitting, and keeps both yarns active in the work (meaning nothing is ever snipped).
