“The Beekeeper’s Collection”, comprising of two blanket patterns and a cushion pattern, were inspired by World Bee Day on 20 May 2021. The patterns are available to buy individually or as a bundle.

The two blankets and cushion are hexagonal to represent the honeycomb and are worked in the round. Filet crochet.

Its shape represents the honeycomb and tells the bees’ story in each segment. We start with a solitary bee which then starts off a honeycomb hive. From here the bees fly off to the flowers and then return to the hive. The blanket finishes off with honeycomb filet to represent the production of honey from the comb.

“The Beekeeper’s Honeycomb blanket” is the smaller version of “The Beekeeper’s Hive blanket”. This smaller version was designed for a Scheepjes Whirl and Whirlette but would work in whichever weight yarn you prefer. It omits 2 rows of bees, 1 row of flowers and the second bees in the hive, finishing with a larger honeycomb filet than “The Beekeeper’s Hive” blanket.

Pictures show samples in Whirl/Whirlette, Hayfield Bonus Aran Tweed and Caron Simply Soft Aran.
