The “Best of Two Worlds” poncho is the synergy of a knitted and a granny-crocheted triangle. Both are beginner friendly and easy to make.

The variegated yarn adds its magic and reveals how the same yarn results in different effects for different crafting methods.

Wear the poncho “knit front”, “crochet front”, or “half knit/crochet front”.

The hand loops provide a quick and easy way to keep the poncho comfortably in place.

One size fits many … tips to adjust the size are provided.

Optionally, add the craft of weaving to the mix by using the yarn leftovers to pin-loom weave a cowl on a hexagon pin loom. That would make your project a “Best of Three Worlds”!

Skills: Basic knitting skills (cast on, knit stitch, simple increase, bind off), basic crochet skills (chain, single and double crochet stitches), basic sewing skills to join the shoulder seams.

Finished size (as shown): Measurement from wrist to wrist is 56”, triangle depth in center back is 28”.

Yarn: Deluxe Stripes by Universal Yarn, 75% Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon, 218 yds/100g, color 311 Tie Dye, 7 balls.

Tools: Circular knitting needle US 4/3.5mm or size to obtain gauge, 30” or longer.
Crochet hook G/4mm or size to obtain gauge.
(Optional for making the cowl) Original TURTLE Loom™, R-regular sett for worsted weight yarn from Bluebonnet Crafters, LLC.

Gauge: Knit 16.5 sts x 30 rows in Garter sts, measured unstretched, blocked, 4” x 4”.
Crochet 18 sts x 9 rows in granny stitch, measured unstretched, blocked, 4” x 4”.
Gauge is not critical for this project because you can adjust the triangle sizes as you work.
