The Bobbie Joe Slouch
The Bobbie Joe Slouch was created for the 6th annual Cancer Challenge, hosted by fellow designer Christine of Sweet Potato 3.
Please take a moment and read all about it, everything you need to know can be found here: https://sweetpotato3.com/coming-soon-2019-cancer-challenge/
Once the Cancer Challenge has ended, a large portion of the sales from this pattern will be donated to my favorite local cancer fundraiser so even if you miss out on the challenge, your purchase will still be a great help!!
This hat is rated as easy/beginner.
This year’s cancer challenge is especially close to my heart. We were asked to choose a ribbon color and base our color choices on that ribbon. I chose gray in honor of my Nanny who sadly passed away from brain cancer in December of 2005. She is the one who taught me how to crochet and instilled a love for the craft in me at an early age. She was a strong and amazing woman who has always been a huge inspiration for me throughout my life. Aside from being an extremely hard worker, she was immensely creative which I assume is where I get it from. She was a “Jack of all trades” as far as crafts were concerned from crocheting to sewing and everything in between. I cherished my homemade costumes she would whip up for my sister and I from time to time. My goal for my design was to create something unique and special that I knew my Nanny would have loved. If I could sum her up in one word it would be “blessing” because not only was she the most amazing grandmother that a kid could ever hope to have, she has helped to pave my way and shape my future by giving me the gift of creativity. I have met so many wonderful people and done some spectacular things thanks to my crocheting and I feel like I owe every bit of it to her. This hat design dedicated in her memory is my “thank you” to her and I truly hope that this hat will be a blessing to someone who needs it just as she was to me ❤❤❤
