What on earth is a Boogle? Okay, you know that feeling
you get that is a cross between boredom and restlessness? Like,
you really want to be doing the thing, but you definitely can’t
concentrate on it right now, even though you REALLY WANT
TO? You’d love to be reading that book, or knitting that sweater,
or working on your art, or studying for that quiz, but it’s just
not happening? For years my friend Tim and I have referred to
this terrible condition as ‘having the Boogles’.
So I might say, “Did you work on any new drawings
yesterday?” And he might reply “No! I had the Boogles all
night!”
Finally, we decided to make the Boogles in effigy,
thinking that maybe if the Boogles had a physical form, they
wouldn’t collect around us and keep us from doing all the great,
creative, entertaining things we wanted to do! This pattern is
the result. We think that their blobby shape and unblinking stare
really capture their essence, and now that we look at them we
think maybe they never meant to be such a nuisance and they
just needed a little understanding.
So, if you’ve ever suffered from the Boogles like we
have, I hope putting some of your energy into giving them a
little body to live in helps you coexist with them in harmony!

Materials
Note. Boogles are flexible, and the yarn and needles listed in this section only reflect the orangish Boogle in the photos. In the Boogles’ ‘classphoto’ you can see one Boogle made in each yarn weight from Size 1:Super Fine, all the way up to Size 6: Super Bulky. Each of the Boogles of weights 1-4 took less than 50g of their respective yarns, the Size 5: Bulky Boogle took less than 100g, and the Size 6: Super Bulky Boogle took about 150g. The yarns shown are listed at the end of the PDF.
Yarn - Kelbourne Woolens GERMANTOWN (100 grams/220
yards, 100% Wool): 1 skein of 667 Salmon (Color A) and
approximately 5 grams of Natural 105 (Color B).
Hook: 1 US G (4mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Tapestry needle.
Optional locking markers.
2 black safety eyes.
