“the box” is a small satchel with a square base and edges defined by miniature cables, held closed with a satin ribbon. it is perfect for holding precious jewelry, candy or other small items, but it can well be worked in a bigger size too.

this pattern uses very little yarn and is perfect to use up leftovers, since gauge is not important. the stockinette body lends itself well to intarsia or embroidery.

the avid knitter should be able to finish this project in an afternoon. to get a smooth, perfect top edge and tunnel, photo instructions are included in the pattern.

all odd rounds: ktbl, k to last st on needle, ktbl, repeat for each needle.
all even rounds: ktbl, m1, k to last st on needle, m1, ktbl, repeat for each needle (= increase 8 sts)
