I made this vest because I wanted to throw something over my blouse that’s heavy, warm and boxy to make me feel nice and cozy. It’s knitted with an aran weight yarn on smaller than suggested needles to create a dense knit fabric for extra warmth. It’s designed to slump over the shoulder and hit just about at the hips or lower, but users are encouraged to customize the amount of ease and length as they feel.

This pattern is written in an explanatory style. The reader is guided to use proportions from their own measurements to find their desired number of stitches for each step of the project, through easy-to-follow steps. There are many tips throughout the pattern about different modification that can be made to suite the reader.

Shape explanation: This pattern is worked top down. The back is worked down through the shoulder and armhole increases, then stitches are picked up at the bak shoulder edge to for the front sides. Neckhole shaping is worked as they are knit down, then front sides are joined. The front is worked to the length and shape of the back. The front and back are joined and continued in the round. Bottom edge ribbing is worked in a contrast color if desired, then stitches around the armholes and neckhole are picked up and edging is worked to desired length.
