This hat is knit from the bottom up, and is a representation of my favorite mountains, The Brothers within the Olympic Mountain Range in Washington.

The colorwork in this hat has a natural tempo, make sure your floats are loose. The hat takes about 30 g (1/3 of a skein) of either fingering weight (held double) or worsted weight yarn of each of the four required colors, so perfect for using up leftovers from other projects.

You can add extra rows for a more slouchy effect, and I just love picking out colors to accentuate different parts of the pattern. This colorwork pattern lends itself to variegated, hand dyed yarns, so hit up your favorite indie dyer for some great color combinations! Hope you have fun with this quick knit!!
