A cosy, textured pocket shawl, made using aran / heavy worsted weight yarn with thin stripes in a contrasting colour.
Skills Used
Knowledge of basic crochet stitches, techniques and terminology is assumed, including simple colour changes. The shawl is worked in rows and uses single crochet (UK double crochet), half double crochet (UK half treble), front and back post treble crochet (UK raised double treble front and back) worked into stitches 2 rows down. The pattern also uses chainless foundation rows. Descriptions of special stitches are included in the pattern with links to tutorials where available.
Materials
You will need a 7mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and approximately 550g / 850m / 935yds heavy worsted / aran weight yarn.
The sample pictured used the following yarns from my stash as follows:
Wooly Knit British Aran wool 400g cone denim, (400g = 616m - I used Approx 510g / 785m), and We are Knitters, Meripaca, 80% superwash Merino Wool, 10% baby alpaca. (100g = 143m / 156yds - this was a part ball I had left in my stash and I used approx 30g)
