The Cable Dog Sweater
In my humble opinion, my Grand-Doggie Little is the cutest dog EVER. That being said, he gets the shivers on his brisk morning walks. After struggling to get his legs into the doggie sleeves on another sweater I knitted previously - which wasn’t cute at all - I came up with the idea of a sweater that would just pop over his head, and after buttoning a couple of belly bands he’d be snug and warm … AND cute. If he could talk, I bet he’d tell you how happy and stylish he feels in his new sweaters. Of course, he has more than one.
Knitted in worsted weight yarn, the sweater pattern is an easy knit that comes in 7 sizes (with instructions on how to customize further.) The Cable version has a bold horseshoe cable right up the back, and seed stitches on the sides, so it has lots of texture. Get ready for lots of compliments when your dog is wearing this one.
Knitting these is kind of addictive, so why not make several? (I bet you can guess that Little has quite the sweater wardrobe!) They also make great gifts for all your four-legged friends …
While you’re at it, be sure to take a look at The Basic Dog Sweater and the Mistake Rib Dog Sweater. ;-)
Note: Not all dogs are as loved well taken care of as yours and mine are, so I am donating 25% of the profits from pattern sales to the SPCA for the life of the pattern. I hope you’ll join me in supporting the dog rescue charity of your choice beyond this. Thanks!!
Special thanks to my wonderful dog models Little (modeling the Oatmeal and Denim sweaters), Elsa (modeling the turquoise sweater), Ariel, Sassie, Sally and others.
