Is it a vest or is it a scarf? Let’s call it a SCVEST!
I wanted to create something versatile but easy enough for a beginner who wants to add a touch of sophistication to the simple garter scarf. Any experienced knitter needs an easy project on the go too, so this is perfect to relax between complex projects.

The scvest has a basic construction: 2 rectangles started with a pretty lace pattern & no fuss slits in each rectangle for armholes. The 2 rectangles are grafted at the end to form a long scarf.
Slip your arms through the slits and you are wearing a narrow vest or slip the ends through the slits, wrap it over your neck and you get a very cosy scarf!

The Scvest was inspired by the Carpathian Mountains from Europe, where I grew up. Beautiful in each season, green in the spring and summer, rusty red in autumn and white in the winter. Changing colours but keeping their beauty at all times.

I am offering 2 options -one for a narrow back and the other one for a slightly wider/deeper back. However this is very easy to adjust.

Yarn used: 3x Skeinz premium 4ply (yak/wool) and 2x Aurora mohair 2ply, worked double stranded approx 950-980m in total (approx 475 m of each) for option N

Alternative: 3x Skeinz Legacy 4ply (merino/polwarth) and 2x Mohair 2ply, worked double stranded (approx 1040m in total, approx 520m of each) for option W

Any 4ply yarn double stranded with 2ply mohair should work beautifully!

Needles: 6.5mm - 7mm

Gauge is not essential but could affect the final dimensions and yardage used. However this garment needs to be loose to drape nicely.

Please note: due to the loose texture the final product will grow after blocking.
