The Cattail Folk
My Grandfather was one of my favorite people in the whole world. When I think of him I don’t remember detailed accounts of his life because he died when I was young, but I remember sitting on his lap a lot while holding my favorite doll (named dolly) and that he had a giant vase filled with cattails at his door. Now I have dolls that combine these two memories.
Supplies needed: 12 mm wooden beads (I use both light and dark colored beads for a diversity of dolls), pipe cleaners, optional crochet hook for adding hair.
Construction
• a body, knit in the round from bottom to top.
• arms, (one I-cord) knit in one piece and slid into position through arm holes.
• wooden bead head that stays in place with a pipe cleaner.
• yarn hair added with a tapestry needle.
• Hat leaves: Knit separately and slid into position
• Cloak: Knit separately and stitched together
