The Chia Ying Beanie, named after my second daughter, is a bulky knit beanie of easy cables. She is a 6 row repeat that is simple and rhythmic and works up quickly into a beautiful chevron cable pattern. Although seemingly simple for the beginner knitter, the design is a fun, quick knit for all levels.

The Chia Ying Beanie is a “fitted hat” with a snug brim. To modify the brim for large head circumference, consider sizing up to a US11. I have also included instructions to adjust for a slouchier fit.

Please note, gauge is knitted up using size US11/8 mm needles.

You will need just one skein of most bulky yarn options.

Needles & notions:
US10.5/6.5 mm - brim US11/8mm 16” circular needles - body
US11/8mm DPN for decrease (or magic loop method)
Tapestry needles for weaving in ends
Pom pom optional
