The Compliment Sweater
Every time I wear this sweater, random strangers compliment me on it, hence the name.
This sweater is worked in one piece from the top down. The cuffs are worked in twisted rib, whilst the body and sleeves sweater is entrelac in the round – squares made up of short rows worked back and forth on the bias. It creates a stunning effect when made with yarns with long colour changes; however, changing colours after each round of diamonds will also create a fun garment.
There is no shaping, but the nature of the entrelac diamonds to want to curl in on themselves, and the bias fabric allows the garment to appear somewhat fitted while it has a fair amount of positive ease. The finished garment measures 50 cm across the front of the chest.
It uses any DK / 8ply yarn (this was Bendigo Woollen Mills Bloom, which has since been discontinued) and is knit on 4.5 mm needles with a gauge of 22 stitches to 10 cm. You will need one stitch marker, and one or two spare circular needles to use as stitch holders for your sleeves.
