I often say If it’s asymmetrical, it’s art. But it takes confidence to wear art or asymmetry! And as soon as we knit something asymmetrically—demanding that we work in unusual ways—we need more confidence in our knitting skills. Hence, the Confident Jumper.

As soon as I made L’Enveloppe, I knew I wanted to explore its shape and style further. And while this is a more complex pattern than L’Enveloppe, it has some of the same features:
• it is, of course, asymmetrical,
• it is sized (unlike a cowl, cape, or shawl),
• it is worked in not-so-usual ways,
• you are always doing something,
• it’s hard to describe (not quite a vest because it has sleeves), hence jumper,
• it is a great piece to layer, completing an outfit.
All that is to the good.

Major differences between this piece and L’Enveloppe are that this one is
• worked in stockinette,
• has more pieces (hence more structure),
• has two sleeves.
All this means more seams and added edgings. The construction and additional knitting make it an advanced-intermediate pattern. To aid in the process, and so you can see what you are asked to do at unexpected places, I have included photos and drawings.
