The Cransley is an overlay mosaic crochet design that is worked flat in the round apart from the small central section which is worked in rows. It is a rectangular throw which measures;
123 cms by 93 cms (50 inches by 36.5 inches).

It has has seven sections and the pattern includes charts and full written instructions which use UK crochet terms. It is suitable for the experienced crocheter, it is not a novice pattern. I would recommend having worked at least one other mosaic project before working this one.

The Cransley was designed for my son and his partner who live in Cransley Avenue, hence the name. They helped choose the colours that I used, and to get the colour combo they wanted I used a mix of drops Alaska and drops Nepal. There are four colours used in this throw, the main colour A and three contrasting colours, however each of the seven sections could be worked in a different colour if you want to use up your stash.

Yarn amounts for The Cransley are:
1600 meters of colour A
725 meters of colour B
335 meters of colour C
625 meters of colour D
Giving a total of 3285 meters.

There is no envelope border required in this blanket as you sew in your ends as you go. However, to complete the blanket and give it a nice firm edge I used a whipped stitch which is achieved by using either the crab stitch or the twisted single crochet stitch and there are links to a video tutorial which demonstrates both methods.
