The crow is most notably known for being mischievous (and perhaps annoying), but there is more to this bird than meets the eye. Crows have a remarkable ability to remember faces. They will recognize people; those who walk by their tree every day, those who shoo them away, and those who show them kindness. Crows have been documented bringing gifts of gratitude to people who feed or care for them -- little trinkets, stones, even special crafted objects, such as a branch threaded through a soda tab like a beaded friendship bracelet.

As the crow knows, handmade gifts are a truly special way to show gratitude. This shawl is designed with this idea in mind. Using two skeins of fingering weight yarn, you can mix and match colors to create a unique gift, using hues that remind you of the recipient or treasured skeins collected over time.

You will need:
Approx 800 yards (2 skeins) of fingering weight yarn in 2 colors (C1, C2)
Size G/4mm crochet hook
Stitch markers
Scissors
Yarn needle

Note: This pattern can be used with other yarn weights, such as sport or DK weight. Adjust your hook size to fit the yarn used. If substituting a different weight of yarn, don’t worry about the gauge swatch below as your stitches will be larger than the gauge.

Measurements:
My finished shawl measures 110” long and 15” wide at the center after blocking. You can work your shawl until it as long and wide as you want. Try it on as you go!
