The Cynthia Dress
An elegant, flattering dress that can be worn anywhere to do anything. Named for my equally elegant and industrious mother.
This is my first dress pattern, and was created after coming across a photo of my mother wearing a similar dress when she was about my age. I wanted to create a timeless, classic piece of clothing that could be enjoyed across generations and in various different settings and activities. My pattern testers turned the pattern into everything from a bathing suit cover-up to a full length evening dress, and the pattern equally suited this full spectrum of transformation.
The pattern comes with written instructions, including information about the materials and instructions necessary to complete a dress tailored specifically to your size and body type. The pattern is suitable for an advanced/adventurous beginner or intermediate crocheter.
Sizes are based on measured waist size and include pre-calculated stitch counts for 25” - 40” waists, as well as the option to customize instructions for other sizes.
Gauge is completed using the moss stitch (sc, ch 1, sc), with each stitch being counted separately.
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in Dark Country Blue (or comparable worsted weight yarn)
6 skeins (1890 yds) for 30” and smaller waist
7 skeins (2205 yds) for 31”- 35”waist
8 skeins (2520 yds) for 36” and larger waist
Hook: 5 mm, or size needed to achieve gauge
Notions: tape measure, stitch holders, scissors, tapestry needle
I hope you enjoy!
