Intermediate level
This design is inspired by the spectacular uplift rock formations of the Colorado Front Range Mountains, where layers of colored rock form angular ridges, and dinosaur footprints still parade along the beach of a bygone age.

What makes this so striking is the beautiful self shading/ gradient yarn of the main color, contrasted by a solid charcoal contrast yarn.

This is a simple design utilizing only knit, purl and slip stitches and only knitting one color at a time, so there’s no complicated color work or stranding needed!

Note on skein requirements:
• 1 skein Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn, colorway EME 140 (approx. 656 yds) I used the majority of the skein
• 1 skein Kauni Wool 8/2 Solids colorway RR3 130 (approx. 525yds) I used approx 1/2 the skein.

Substituting yarns:
Of course, you can substitute any other DK weight yarns - you’ll need approx 600 - 650yds of the main color and 300-350 yds of the contrast.
