The yarn used gives it a real cosy feel, but you could use any light fingering or sock weight yarn. It is recommend that you choose a yarn with some silk in it, which will help with the drape. You should be able to use just the one 100g skein of yarn, unless you are a particularly loose knitter, or you choose a slightly heavier yarn.

The finished blocked scarf measures:
Width 27 cm (10.5”)
Length 178 cm (70”)

You can adjust the length, however, by knitting more or fewer repeats of the lace pattern. As a guide, an adult scarf should be as long as the person is tall. This was knitted for someone between 5 feet 5 and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

The scarf was designed to wrap comfortably around the neck once with plenty spare to hang down or tuck into your coat, or just to wear around the back of the collar of a winter coat hanging down for decoration (or emergency use if that wind gets up). If you like a snug feeling, it will go around the neck twice.
