1930s-inspired Square neck jumper

Inspired by a jumper worn by the Lily James’ character in the film ‘The Dig’, set in the 1930s, just before the outbreak of World War II. The jumper has a square neck knit in garter stitch with matching garter stitch sleeve cuffs. Full instructions are given in the pattern on how to create the square neckline and mitred corners. The jumper is fitted at the back of the neck with press-studs.

The cornflower blue jumper pictured is knit in a fine vintage 4-ply from Forsell and Sons Ltd. For best results, use an alternative fine 4-ply wool.
