Introduction
This dishcloth pattern was written for three different yarn weights and needle sizes and makes for a great stash buster. It knits up in no time and is a perfect addition to any kitchen. The pattern is mainly in garter stitch, which prevents curling and there’s hardly any purling involved. The dip stitch is simple, decorative and - best of all - great for scrubbing because of its texture!

The size of the cloth when finished - regardless of yarn weight - is approximately 12x12”. (30x30 cm) The thickness of the cloth increases together with yarn weight.

Choosing yarn
A cotton or cotton blend (with mostly cotton) is recommended for this cloth, because this type of fibre can absorb fluids very well. Bamboo or linen are greatly absorbent and result in a fine dishcloth. Avoid wool or other animal fibres. Manufactured fibres (acrylic, polyester, etc.) are fine, they will make your end product more abrasive.

For the basic pattern, you need two colors of the same yarn weight. Feel free to experiment with different color schemes to create your own unique dishcloth. Take a look at the picture samples for inspiration. A solid colored dishcloth gives a more elegant appearance while a scrap yarn version will give a playful and bright result. The dip stitch works incredibly well with variegated yarns. The possibilities are endless.
