This listing is for the pdf knitting pattern of The Eastport Sweater/Dress, a beautiful A-line tunic with cap sleeves of simplicity that can be worn over shirts, blouses or on its own!

The Dress version features free form crochet lace at the bottom (also optional is a simple crochet or ribbing edge forthe bottom), simple cowlneck and echoing sleeve pattern.

This is the first knit design that I created in my little house in Eastport, Maine - Easter 2012… it is created for handspun yarn and invited you to be creative and think outside of the box.

Material & Gauge:

For size S-L 10 -16 oz of hand-spun yarn, knitable with needles US 17 (12.75 mm) - 250 - 400 yards depending on yarn & about 20 yards of contrasting yarn for the crochet edges of the Sweater

Allow more yards when working the Dress with the freeform crochet border at the bottom.

gauge: 2.25 sts and 2.25 rows = 1 inch over stockinette stitch

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, cast off, pick up stitches for neckline, knitting in the round, simple crochet for contrast edging

Difficulty level: Intermediate.

This pattern was designed with handspun yarn in mind.

Substitute with any commercial bulky/chunky yarn to match gauge (needle size)

Larger sizes can be easily accommodated by casting on more stitches.

Alternatively you may adapt the pattern as is with the use of larger needles (and bulkier yarn) to create sizes medium & large.
