The Essential Baby Romper
I designed this pattern for my grandson who is due at the beginning of September. I wanted an outfit that could be layered up if it turns chilly but the short sleeves and legs mean it is good to wear if the sun is shinning.
The smallest size takes just a bit less than 50g and the larger size takes about 65g. Baby will grow out of this tiny outfit quickly so I recommend acrylic baby yarn which is easily washed and dried.
The Essential Baby Romper is knitted top down on straight needles (Circular needles can be used knitting back and forth), there is a small seam at the back to sew up and it fastens with 5 buttons. If you decide to use poppers as fasteners omit the buttonhole. This pattern uses stitch markers.to help you keep track of where you are in the pattern. They save a whole load of stitch counting which helps to knit faster.
You can easily knit the smaller size in a couple of evening so it is perfect to knit as a quick gift, for a baby shower or for charity.
Many thanks to Zena-Dee for testing the pattern and allowing me to use her photos, the all blue with the garter ridge.
