The Everyday Dog Cowl
Here’s the perfect first knit-in-the-round knitting project. It’s absolutely wonderful for introducing knitting to children or teenagers. Who doesn’t want to knit something cute for the dog? Slumber party coming up? Why not have the children knit for their dogs as an activity?
Because it’s super bulky, easily obtained yarn, it knits quickly. The supplies are easy to find, and not too expensive.
I give suggested cast ons for dog measurements, but really suggest working from the dog’s measurement and the knitter’s unique gauge. I give instructions on how to work this out.
The pattern is written for both Magic Loop and DPNS, but really, Magic Loop is the way to go. IMHO, anyway. I also link to videos for help. Super beginners can knit flat and seam the piece together.
The pattern is 4 pages and is filled with adorable dog pictures and cute illustrations. I think you will enjoy looking at the pattern and it’s contents as much as you will enjoy knitting this project.
Yes. It’s super easy. Isn’t that the point of a beginner project? I know when I started out, I was so frustrated by the lack of fun projects designed for that first year of knitting. Patterns were just a list of instructions on a page. It was hard to make a real connection to the finished object.
I’ve designed this pattern to inspire the next generation of knitters, our young people. If we can get them excited to knit, we can pass along our craft. A print of this pattern with the supplies makes for a wonderful gift.
