The Fairview Beanie was inspired by a hike I did in Banff National park called Fairview Mountain. It is the highest summit you can day hike in the Canadian Rockies. The slip stitches that creates the knit line going up the hat signifies this trail and all its challenges. This hike has very few switchbacks and you’re left to hike straight up the vertical incline, but when you get to the top it is a fairview as far as the eye can see, even to the beautiful Lake Louise below. When worn the knit line curves from the brim to the crown of the beanie or the “summit”. Best of all this hat is reversible, the best of both texture or a simple striped hat for Men or Women. It is a beanie and meant to be worn under a jacket hood without the bulk of a pom pom. A great Canadian hiking accessory. I hope you enjoy knitting this hat as much as I enjoyed designing it.
