I have been asked many times to come up with a Shetland lace stole that a beginner could handle. As for many knitters it seems a nearly impossible task to knit a Shetland lace shawl.So I made it and called it “The First Kiss”.
You ask me, why?
It’s simple.
It is uncomplicated, timid and inexperienced, simple and a little bit clumsy, but very gentle and romantic, and for many of you it is really the first.
But it can become the beginning of a life-long love.

I offer you a pattern of a lace stole worked in one piece.
It is worked from the center towards the edges, and begins with a row of scrap yarn stitches.
You will knit one half of the stole, then the mirror the other half.
This pattern allows you to change both the length and width of the stole to your liking.
The central part and pointed borders along the right and left edges are worked at the same time.
At the end of each part, the borders are also worked along the shorter sides of the stole; and open stitches in the corners are grafted, forming invisible seams.

Yarn: Lace weight wool (800-1500 m/100 g) approximately 1500-2000 m. Exact yardage depends on the desired size of the stole. Fine linen yarn will work well, too.

Difficulty level: beginners.

Skills required: reading charts; garter-stitch based lace knitting; provisional cast on; picking up stitches along edges; grafting.

Exact gauge is not critical for this project and may vary depending on the yarn and needles of your choice.

Photos in this pattern show two stoles made with linen SIŪLAS Lithuanian Linen 3ply, (white, smaller in size) and the bigger one made with Knoll Yarns Lambswool 2/1700nm.
Finished sizes after blocking and yardage of these stoles are as follows:
White stole (1 repeat of Chart 2) - 167 х 64 cm - 155 g of SIŪLAS Lithuanian Linen 3 ply.
Beige stole (3 repeats of Chart 2) - 260 х 80 cm - 175 g of Knoll Yarns Lambswool 2/1700nm.

Needles and notions: Single-ended or circular needles 2.5-3.0 mm; stitch markers; tapestry needle; waste yarn; blocking pins.

Меня много раз просили придумать такой палантин в технике шетландского ажура, с которым мог бы справиться новичок. Потому что впервые вязать такой ажур кажется многим непосильной задачей.
Поэтому я сделала его и назвала “Первый поцелуй“.
Почему, спросите вы?
Все просто.
Он незамысловатый, робкий и неопытный, простой и немного угловатый, но нежный и романтичный.
Для многих из вас он действительно первый.
Но может стать началом огромной любви на всю жизнь.

Я предлагаю вашему вниманию ажурный палантин с цельновязанной каймой.
Он вяжется от центра к краям, начиная с бросовой нити.
Мы вяжем одну половину, потом зеркально вторую.
Можно изменить как длину, так и ширину по своему вкусу.
Боковая кайма по правому и левому краю вяжется одновременно с основной частью.
В конце каждой части мы присоединяем кайму и в поперечном направлении, в уголке сшиваем ее трикотажным швом.

Материалы. В качестве пряжи я рекомендую использовать тонкую шерсть, 800 - 1500 метров в 100 гр. Также можно использовать лен.

Расход зависит от того, какой размер готового изделия вы хотите получить. Лучше иметь в запасе примерно 1500 - 2000 метров.

Уровень сложности для начинающих .
Для успешного выполнения необходим навык чтения схем, вязания платочного узора и ажурного узора .в лицевых рядах.
Необходимо уметь набирать петли на бросовую нить, а также выполнять трикотажный шов.

Плотность вязания: может варьироваться в зависимости от толщины выбранной вами пряжи и номера спиц.

Рекомендована пряжа: 800 - 1500 метров в 100 граммах.

Необходимые инструменты: спицы № 2,5 - 3,0 прямые или круговые, маркеры, гобеленовая игла, набор булавок для блокировки.
