ABOUT
The First Tee is a top-down raglan tee with stockinette body and feature Half Fisherman’s Rib sleeves.

The sleeves have been graded to create a puff effect using Half Fisherman’s Rib stitch pattern and a double knit cuff; the pattern includes instructions to tailor sleeve fit to your preferred ease and bicep measurement.

This is a sister pattern to The First Sweater & The First Cardigan

The tee has been professionally graded to 12 sizes - see below.

The First Tee is knit in DK-weight yarn and the suggested yarn used by the designer was The Fibre co. Luma.

The difficulty of this pattern is rated as ‘advanced beginner’. You will need to be familiar, or be able to become familiar with the following techniques:

  • Knitting in the round
  • Increasing and decreasing including lifted increases
  • Half Fisherman’s Rib
  • Double knitting
  • Picking up stitches

GAUGE
The following stitch count are taken from the finished garment, washed and blocked and measured over 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in).

  • Stockinette: 22 sts x 30 rounds on 4 mm needles

  • Half Fisherman’s Rib: 16 sts x 18 rounds on 4mm needles (one round in HFR = 2 round of knitting)

  • Double knit cuff: row gauge 23 sts on 3mm needles


SIZING & EASE
This pattern has been professionally graded into 12 sizes to fit bust circumference from 75cm (30in) to 160cm (64in).

The First Tee has been designed with 4.5-6 cm (1.75-2.25 in) positive ease at the bust built into each size.
This is a recommendation only; the amount of ease can be easily adjusted by knitting a smaller or larger size.

Sample made with The Fibre Co. Luma (50% merino, 25% organic cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk; 125 m/137 yd per 50g)

Any single strand/double strand alternatives can be used, however to maintain the structure and spring-back of the tee and the sleeves it is recommended to use a yarn with some wool content.
