A felted or fulled top-down pointy hat that’s sure to bring out the gnome in you.

This is a quick knit that’s easily adjustable in size. If using the Country Roving, you peel it apart to use only 2 strands. A single skein of the Country Roving should provide enough for 3 hats.

The crochet hook is for the crochet-magic-loop-cast-on, instructions (amongst many other sites) here.

The unfelted hat should fit; the felting is gentle and done by hand to even out the fabric and snug the fit slightly.

Note: this hat is unsuitable for anything other than 100% wool. Don’t use acrylics or blends; they won’t full properly and the hat won’t look as good. The best yarns are those that are “itchy” or “rustic” - these felt well and will bloom nicely, and develop a nice wooly finish especially if brushed with something like a nail brush. Country Roving is my favorite yarn for this hat as it is very lightweight. Lopi is nice too, but the hat will be heavier and slightly bigger, and because of the weight it will have a tendency to droop or fold over (unless you stuff it).
