Pay What You Choose: In the interest of making my patterns financially accessible to all knitters while still honouring the time and work that went into creating them, I’m including ‘Pay What You Choose’ tiered pricing for my patterns. You may notice an increase in the baseline price; that is because I believe it represents a fair amount of compensation for my time and craft. If you can afford the full price, I am glad; if you cannot, please choose a price you are willing to pay, no questions asked. Tiered pricing works on the honour system and I will never know your financial ability, but I would very much like designing knitting patterns to be sustainable for me. Here is a list of the coupon codes and the discounts they represent:

No Code: $8.00 CAD
Orchestra: 10% off
BoxSeats: 20% off
Mezzanine: 30% off

I know this is massively dating myself, but… anyone else remember the pastel-and-grey striped sweatshirts that were everywhere in the late ’80s-early ’90s? Usually they were pastel pink or blue or mint green. Pretty sure they were Gap shirts, but there might have been some Guess and a bunch of knock-offs, too. I picked up some fabulous yarn that reminded me of those sweatshirts, so I knit a striped brioche hat with it!

To knit this hat, you will need:
Approximately 75 meters/82 yards aran weight yarn in both a main colour and contrast colour. Sample shown in Illimani Amelie.
4 mm circular needles with a 40 cm/16 inch cable (size 6 US)
4.5 mm circular needles with a 40 cm/16 inch cable (size 7 US) or size to obtain gauge
Set of 4.5 mm dpns (size 7 US)
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle

Gauge:
16 sts = 10 cm/4 inches in brioche stitch on 4.5 mm needles

Required Skills:
cast on, knit, brioche knit, brioche purl, brioche decrease, icord

Notes:
The required skills are written into the instructions with the exception of icord and casting on, which is knitter’s choice. I used the tubular cast on with two colours. Here are instructions on how to knit icord: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/i-cord/
Here is a video of the tubular cast in case you would like to use it: https://ysolda.com/pages/tubular-cast-on
