It once happened that, as a consequence of a trick played by Loki, the Æsir killed the giant Thiazi. His daughter Skadi demanded compensation, and so Odin took Thiazi’s eyes and set them as stars in the sky. Now they shine over Skadi’s garden at her home in Thrymheim…

The Garden at Thrymheim is an Estonian-inspired lace scarf. It’s worked in 2 pieces from the bottom up and grafted at the center. The third photo shows the join.

The pattern has been test-knitted. The scarf’s border features lilies with nupps, as well as small tulip motifs. The body of the scarf uses a variation of the Estonian pattern “Milky Way” offset with beads.

Links are provided for how to work nupps and add beads. A photo tutorial is included for the gathered stitches in the border. The lace patterns are charted only.

In addition to the yarn requirements listed above, you’ll also need 384 beads in size 8/0 or to fit your yarn.

The larger needle is used for the cast-on only.

This scarf is part of my series Among the Æsir, inspired by the Norse gods and their world.

Thank you to my testers Sandra and Karen! You are both amazing!
